Zigzag Launches French-Language Puppy Training App as International Expansion Begins

UK-based puppy training app Zigzag has launched its first fully localised French-language experience. The move marks the company's first major expansion beyond English-speaking markets and forms part of wider plans to make puppy training support available to dog guardians around the world.

Key Points

• Zigzag has launched its first fully localised experience in France.

• The puppy training app was previously available only in English.

• The launch includes localisation designed specifically for French dog guardians.

• A new freemium model is being introduced in the French market.

• France is expected to be the first of several international launches.

Zigzag expands beyond English-speaking markets

UK-based puppy training app Zigzag has announced the launch of its first fully localised French-language experience, marking a significant milestone in the company’s international growth strategy.

The company says the launch represents more than a simple translation project. According to Zigzag, the platform has been adapted to better reflect how French dog parents live, learn and access training support.

Until now, the app has only been available in English.

The expansion marks the beginning of a wider international programme that will see Zigzag enter additional countries and languages in the future.

Focus on early puppy Support

Zigzag says the French launch is intended to improve access to puppy training guidance and behavioural support during the early stages of dog guardianship.

In announcing the launch, the company highlighted concerns around pet abandonment in France, citing estimates suggesting between 100,000 and 200,000 pets are abandoned annually.

The company notes that behavioural challenges can contribute to difficulties for owners and believes early access to training support may help improve outcomes for both dogs and their guardians.

Localisation rather than translation

According to Zigzag, considerable investment was made in adapting the experience specifically for French users.

The company says it worked closely with experts throughout the process and focused on creating an experience designed around the needs of French dog guardians rather than simply translating existing content.

This approach reflects a growing trend within pet technology, where products are increasingly tailored to local markets and cultural differences.

Freemium model introduced

Alongside the French launch, Zigzag is introducing a freemium model.

The company says this will allow more dog guardians to access puppy training support and expert guidance from the start of their ownership journey, helping reduce barriers to entry in a new market.

More markets planned

France is expected to be the first of several international launches.

Zigzag says additional languages and territories are already planned as part of its wider mission to bring puppy training support to dog owners around the world.

The company credited Chief Executive Patrick Luke, co-founder Lorna Winter and members of the Zigzag team for helping deliver the launch.

What this means for dog guardians

• French-speaking dog guardians can now access a fully localised version of the Zigzag app.

• The launch highlights continued growth within the pet technology sector.

• Digital training and behaviour support tools are becoming increasingly accessible internationally.

• Additional languages and countries may be added in future.
