Jo Malone London has teamed up with British pet care brand WildWash to create a new dog shampoo, bringing the fragrance house together with more than 20 years of specialist knowledge in natural dog care.
The Jo Malone London x WildWash Orange & Cedarwood Dog Shampoo launches today, 1 September, priced at £18 for a 285ml bottle.
The collaboration brings together two British brands with very different areas of expertise. Jo Malone London brings its experience in fragrance, while WildWash has worked in specialist dog care for more than two decades.
WildWash says putting the dog at the heart of the formula was central to the collaboration, with the product developed specifically for canine skin and coats.
Orange and cedarwood
Natural orange and cedarwood essential oils give the shampoo its fragrance, combining fresh citrus notes with warmer woody cedarwood.
The formula also contains aloe vera and has been created to cleanse and freshen the coat.
For WildWash, the partnership is recognition of the experience the company has built within professional grooming and natural pet care over the past 20 years.
Four dogs, four bottles
The packaging brings another element to the launch, with four different illustrated bottles featuring a Jack Russell Terrier, French Bulldog, Dachshund and Yorkshire Terrier.
Customers shopping in Jo Malone London stores and participating partners can choose their preferred design, subject to availability.
Online orders work differently. The breed is selected at random, so customers will not know which bottle they have received until it arrives.
Blue Hardy gets his seal of approval
There is also a familiar dog involved in the campaign.
Blue, Tom Hardy’s French Bulldog, has appeared alongside the actor in Jo Malone London’s Cypress & Grapevine films and has now given the new collaboration his canine seal of approval.
It provides a natural link between Jo Malone London’s existing relationship with Hardy and Blue and the brand’s new partnership with WildWash.
Where can you buy it?
The Orange & Cedarwood Dog Shampoo is available from 1 September through Jo Malone London, Jo Malone London stores and selected partners.
The collaboration will not form part of WildWash’s wholesale range and cannot be ordered directly from WildWash.
The 285ml bottle costs £18.
Dog owners can find further information through Jo Malone London.
What does the collaboration mean for WildWash?
Working with Jo Malone London puts a specialist British dog care company in front of a considerably wider audience.
WildWash’s role in the project is particularly significant because this isn’t simply a fragrance collaboration. Its knowledge of canine care has been used in the development of a product intended specifically for dogs.
It is also another example of the growing attention being paid to specialist pet care by brands outside the traditional dog industry.
FAQs
Is Jo Malone London dog shampoo suitable for all dogs?
The product has been developed specifically as a dog shampoo. As with any grooming product, owners of dogs with sensitive skin, allergies or existing skin conditions should check the ingredients and speak to their vet if they are unsure whether a new product is suitable.
Can I choose which breed appears on my bottle?
In store, customers can choose from the available designs. For online purchases, the design is a surprise and cannot be selected.
Can groomers buy the shampoo through WildWash?
No. WildWash has confirmed that the collaboration is not part of its wholesale range, so professional groomers and retailers cannot order it through the usual WildWash wholesale channels.
Is this the same as a human Jo Malone London shampoo?
No. This product has been developed specifically for dogs in collaboration with WildWash. Human shampoos and body products should not be assumed to be suitable for use on dogs.
Who is Blue Hardy?
Blue is Tom Hardy’s French Bulldog. He has appeared with Hardy in Jo Malone London’s Cypress & Grapevine campaigns and is part of the campaign for the new WildWash collaboration.
